The Fort Lauderdale Watch Hunt is part of an international relaunch of the famous Aquadive watch brand.  The Aquadive Watch Hunt challenges intrepid divers to follow a series of underwater clues that will lead them to a cache of submerged brass tokens.  A total of 200 tokens will be placed out for retrieval between November 22, 2012 and January 6, 2013.  The clues are located on wrecks utilized in the famous wreck treks located in Fort Lauderdale and Boca. The first three clues are in Fort Lauderdale.  Study the wrecks and put together the pieces!

The first clue is located on the Jay Scutti   Latitude: 26.158667       Longitude: 080.079333, one mile off the coast of Ft. Lauderdale on the inside of the third reef line.

The clues were planted on wrecks located in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area by noted Florida wreck diver and Instructor Trainer Hugh Hare, of Underseas Sports in Fort Lauderdale.  Undersea Sports will collect the tokens and draw the winning name on January 12, 2012.  The program is also supported locally by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitor’s Bureau and South Florida Diving Headquarters.

“The Aquadive program is a terrific example of raising excitement and awareness of the unique wreck diving experiences available in Greater Fort Lauderdale from 69 miles of natural coral reefs to 81 artificial wrecks and reefs,” says Nicki E. Grossman, President of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitor’s Bureau.

The new Aquadive watch line is a modern update of the wildly popular original Aquadive watches from the 1960’s.  The original Aquadive brand was founded in 1962, with no less than astronaut Scott Carpenter appearing as an advertising spokesperson.

The Aquadive line is composed of four models:  the Bathyscaphe 100N ($1490), Bathyscaphe 100 DLC (black coated case $1990), Bathyscaphe 100 SS (stainless case, edition of 500, $1990) and Bathyscaphe 300 (depth rated to 5000 meters $2990).  A limited number of watches assembled to current specifications out of New Old Stock parts are also available as the NOS Diver ($1290).

Unlike many other watch offerings that represent a hodgepodge of European and Asian parts stuffed into off-the-shelf Chinese cases, Aquadives are handmade in Switzerland of Swiss and German components.  Every aspect of an Aquadive’s design and execution reflects thoughtful precision: from original German CNC machine crafted cases to engraved ceramic bezel inserts.  Their look is unmistakably classic and unique in a market filled with dive watches assembled from common catalogue components.   All watches have an unprecedented two year limited warranty.
